At the centre of LUCAS are the international competitions with 21 current feature-length films and 27 short films as German premieres. The juries award attractive prizes in the age sections 8+, 13+ and 16+ | Youngsters. The films are screened in the original language with English subtitles and German voice-over (no voice-over for ages 14 and up).
Young curators are also involved in this year’s LUCAS: six young people from Europe, the “Young European Cinephiles”, present a film series on the theme of “Obsession”. The “Classics Class” has selected their favourite catastrophe films to match the DFF’s current special exhibition. This year’s guest are the intercultural film club “Blickwinkel Jetzt” with one move, and “Cinemini on Tour” with two short film programmes for the very youngest at the “Minis”.
