Monika dreams of a gre­at care­er as a sin­ger. She came from Lithuania to Dublin with her mother Jolanta and her emen­ted grand­mo­ther to escape pover­ty. Now they move from fami­ly cele­bra­ti­ons to fun­e­rals. The 13-year-old sings and Jolanta accom­pa­nies her on the pia­no. They are still short of money. When a music pro­du­cer takes noti­ce of Monika, a suc­cessful future seems within reach. But Jolanta has other worries.
