The alco­ho­lic pilot Ted Striker has deve­lo­ped a fear of fly­ing due to a war trau­ma. Nevertheless, he boards a pas­sen­ger jet to final­ly win back his girl­fri­end Elaine Dickinson. Food poi­so­ning deci­ma­tes pas­sen­gers and crew, so it’s up to Striker to land the pla­ne with the help of a card­board bud­dy as his air traf­fic con­trol­ler and his for­mer Air Force cap­tain Rex Kramer breathing down his neck.
