LUCAS accepts ent\u00adries for the short film com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon sec\u00adtions from February 20th until May 1st 2022.<\/p>\n

For the short film com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon in the sec\u00adtions 8+ and 13+<\/strong>, we accept pro\u00adduc\u00adtions with a length of max. 30 minu\u00adtes. In addi\u00adti\u00adon, the film has to have its German pre\u00admie\u00adre at LUCAS. Please use FilmFreeway<\/strong> to enter your shorts.<\/p>\n

LUCAS pres\u00adents up to date, inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal films for young audi\u00aden\u00adces. Outstanding fiction\u2011, documentary\u2011, ani\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon- and expe\u00adri\u00admen\u00adtal films are part of the five LUCAS com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adons. 21 fea\u00adture films, as well as a sel\u00adec\u00adtion of short films, will com\u00adpe\u00adte for the LUCAS awards.<\/p>\n

Feature films have a mini\u00admum length of 60 minu\u00adtes and have not yet been released in German cine\u00admas. A sel\u00adec\u00adtion com\u00admit\u00adtee visi\u00adting fes\u00adti\u00advals and important indus\u00adtry mee\u00adtings choo\u00adses the com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon films for the sec\u00adtions 8+, 13+ and 16+ | Youngsters<\/strong>. Our main focus her\u00adeby lies not on pre\u00admie\u00adres but on the hig\u00adhest level of qua\u00adli\u00adty. LUCAS \u2013 International Festival for Young Film Lovers pres\u00adents in its pro\u00adgram films \u2013 inno\u00adva\u00adti\u00adve both in their aes\u00adthe\u00adtic form and in their con\u00adtent. We are loo\u00adking for out\u00adstan\u00adding pro\u00adduc\u00adtions which appeal to young film lovers of various ages. This includes films made spe\u00adci\u00adfi\u00adcal\u00adly for young audi\u00aden\u00adces as well as films on account of their form and con\u00adtent. LUCAS is orga\u00adni\u00adzed by Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum (Schaumainkai 41, 60596 Frankfurt).<\/li>\n
  2. The 44th LUCAS \u2013 International Festival for Young Film Lovers will take place in Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main regi\u00adon, Germany, from Oct 6th to Oct. 13th, 2022<\/strong>. The fes\u00adti\u00adval is open for a wide ran\u00adge of fic\u00adtion, docu\u00admen\u00adta\u00adry, ani\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon, expe\u00adri\u00admen\u00adtal and hybrid films. The films will be shown in com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon, out of com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon and in spe\u00adcial programs.<\/li>\n
  3. Films sub\u00admit\u00adted for the short film com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon must meet the fol\u00adlo\u00adwing criteria:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    + The film has not been pre\u00adsen\u00adted befo\u00adre in a fes\u00adti\u00adval or at other public events in Germany and is not available for public vie\u00adw\u00ading on the internet.
    \n+ Only films which have been pro\u00addu\u00adced bet\u00adween 2019 and 2021 are eligible.
    \n+ Only ent\u00adries that can pro\u00advi\u00adde a DCP scree\u00adning copy with English Subtitles will be accepted.
    \n+ The run\u00adning time of the film may not exceed 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

    1. A sel\u00adec\u00adtion com\u00admit\u00adtee choo\u00adses films for the com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon. The sel\u00adec\u00adtion pro\u00adcess will not be public and the\u00adre is no legal right to enter the competition.<\/li>\n
    2. The awards are deci\u00added upon by various inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal juries \u2013 8+ and 13+ con\u00adsis\u00adting of child\u00adren and youths as well as film pro\u00adfes\u00adsio\u00adnals and 16+ | Youngsters only by young adults. The jury\u2019s decis\u00adi\u00adon is final, and the jury does not need to jus\u00adti\u00adfy their decisions.

      \nMoreover, LUCAS besto\u00adwes the unen\u00addo\u00adwed Audience Award as well as the award of the European Children\u2019s Film Association (ECFA).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. After a film\u2019s ent\u00adry into com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon has been publicly announ\u00adced, a with\u00addra\u00adwal of the film is no lon\u00adger possible.<\/li>\n
      2. Films will only be scree\u00adned in ori\u00adgi\u00adnal lan\u00adguage with English sub\u00adtit\u00adles. Selected short films in com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adti\u00adon may be trans\u00adla\u00adted into German for voice-over by the festival.<\/li>\n
      3. The Festival ack\u00adnow\u00adled\u00adges that for each film the inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons aut\u00adho\u00adri\u00adse a total of no more than three screenings.<\/li>\n
      4. The dead\u00adline for ente\u00adring short films is May 1st, 2022. By then the sel\u00adec\u00adtion com\u00admit\u00adtee must have recei\u00adved: The film on DVD\/BluRay or as online resour\u00adce inclu\u00adding all rele\u00advant metadata.<\/li>\n
      5. The abo\u00adve men\u00adtio\u00adned DVDs\/BluRays will not be returned.<\/li>\n
      6. A DCP\/print of the film is to be sent only after an offi\u00adci\u00adal invi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon has been recei\u00adved. The DCP\/film print must arri\u00adve at least 10 days befo\u00adre the fes\u00adti\u00adval starts.<\/li>\n
      7. Unless nego\u00adtia\u00adted other\u00adwi\u00adse, the par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpan\u00adts have to cover the cos\u00adts for trans\u00adport, insu\u00adrance and cus\u00adtoms. Entry fees will not be refun\u00added, neither in case of the film being ente\u00adred on dif\u00adfe\u00adrent plat\u00adforms, the film being sel\u00adec\u00adted nor not selected.<\/li>\n
      8. The fes\u00adti\u00adval covers the insu\u00adrance of the DCPs\/film prints while they are on loca\u00adti\u00adon in Frankfurt, from their arri\u00adval until they are given back to the shipper.<\/li>\n
      9. Only the rights hol\u00adder or his repre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adti\u00adve can enter a film. The fes\u00adti\u00adval requests that a DVD\/BluRay\/file of the film is depo\u00adsi\u00adted in the fes\u00adti\u00advals archive.<\/li>\n
      10. Entering a film means the accep\u00adtance of the festival\u2019s regulations.<\/li>\n
      11. The manage\u00adment of the fes\u00adti\u00adval is aut\u00adho\u00adri\u00adzed to chan\u00adge the festival\u2019s regu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons in spe\u00adcial cases but only in accordance with the inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
